This Full-Day Contemporary Art Tour will give you the background of Indian Art as well as some insight into the evolution of contemporary art in New Delhi. The tour showcases a variety of contemporary art forms, with a special focus on conceptual art, installations, Pop Art, and modern Indian Art.
We start the tour with a “Welcome to the Tour” meeting at Bikaner House. The Curator/Tour Leader will explain the tour details with a brief introduction to the history and the evolution of contemporary art in India. This would be an informal meeting over a cup of coffee followed by a quick Q&A session.
The Tour begins with a Curator led visit to the National Gallery of Modern Art. The gallery provides an excellent introduction, showing clearly how external cultures impacted on indigenous art. Enjoy the walk through the several floors of the gallery and its artworks and installations.
This would be followed by a visit to a private art gallery where the group would get some insight into the trending art in India.
Our morning session ends with a lunch break where the guests are introduced to some innovative Indian Cuisine. This delightful four course meal is specially prepared by the chef for our group. Go ahead and ask the chef for the secrets recipes that will help you understand what lies beneath the Indian creativity.
After lunch, we move to watch some artist studios and some interesting display of art by various Indian artists. Chat up with these artists and get to know their first hand account of their art escapades. The Curator will help explain the finer nuances of modern art and the thought behind traditional subjects of indian artists.
After finishing with the art studios, we head straight to South Delhi’s emerging art scene with a visit to one of the largest and the most popular art gallery in India. After a brief introduction by the gallery staff, the guests are free to browse through the beautiful artworks and some installations over a glass of wine and canopies.
